What do you know about blenders?
Daughter on a health kick. Went to a Home Show and saw a blender demonstration - the Vita Mix 5200. Blended apples and seeds, strawberries with leaves, and zested oranges to a fine, delicious mix. They wanted $449 - wow! THe VM5200 has a 2 horsepower (15 amp) motor. Will a decent 3.0 amp mixer do the same for $300 less?

- get the magic bullet. its much cheaper and just as effective.
- of course expensive b lenders are best, the work much better, BUT if you don't mind single servings, a stick blender would be best! they blend everything! they are way, way waywaywaywayWAY less expensive! i got 1 for my dad for his birthday and it does a great job! we both use them for soups and smoothies, and creamers, etc! the possibilities are almost endless! go to this website: http://www.cooking.com/products/nomatches.asp?Keywords=kitchenaid+stick+blender
- all i learned from blenders is that if you put your ball in them they be cut off
- I actually own the Vita-Mix5200! Funny I found your question because I just finished using it...I use it on a daily basis for my protein shakes post-workout. I have owned it for 2 years now and still works the same as the day I bought it. It was worth every penny of $450. I used to swear by Kitchenaid Blenders but the coupler or motor would burn out on them after only about 4-5 months since I use my blenders to crush ice in my shakes. Spend the extra bucks and INVEST in a vita-mix...it may cost alot now but ultimately it's superior to consumer brand blenders and will save you money!!!!!
