Blender/Smoothie Maker- base is stuck?

I was given a smoothie maker that was used once. No idea how long it has sat dormant. Now, in trying to get it apart, the base of the plastic pitcher, will not come off. This is the blade assembly that unscrews. It seems just stuck. I see no old food or anything hindering the removal. I have spent the better part of the morning trying to get this unstuck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Again, all pieces involved are plastic. Thanks for the help - the family wants smoothies!!!

  1. Brute force. Sit on the floor, put it between your feet and just turn the base as hard as you can. otherwise, it's a fun morning family activity and everyone can take turns holding and turning. Use a towel or rubber gloves to get better grip and if that doesn't work, channel lock pliers. If that doesn't work. try putting a little olive oil on the base where the nut screws in. it should soak in and help loosen that up.
  2. If it is like mine I cannot get it off without my son Place blender on motor part as if you are going to use it turn the plastic part that holds the juice and it should all come apart, base from jar
  3. soak it in the sink with warm water and dish soap for a while , then unscrew the jar and wash properly, I take mine apart every time that I use it ,make sure that is properly dry before putting it back together , let it air dry in the dish drainage tray.
