Do blenders and smoothie makers do the same thing?

Can I use a smoothie maker for food mixes and blender for making smoothies?

1. Yes one has a tap on it that's all! well my smoothie maker is the sames as my blender at work but mint has a tap thing on it! :o)
2. Get a blender - you can make smoothies with them and put other foods in.. not sure about putting other foods in smoothie makers though
3. Yes they do, you can use either one and get the same results.

5. yes they do ,,, i have both and only really needed the blender
