Can you blend hot soup in a smoothie maker?

It's a Kenwood New York Smoothie maker. I wondered whether it could blend hot soup ingredients after cooking or would that damage the plastic, etc. I ask because I don't think it's dishwasher safe and wonder whether that's to do with the heat. Thanks.

1. No and the lid will pop up from the steam and you will get burned. You need an immersion blender: http://www.kitchenaid.com/catalog/product.jsp?categoryId=208&productId=405 You can get one at walmart for under 20 bucks.

3. Yes you can. When you start just make sure you hold the lid so it doesn't splat everywhere and after 5 seconds you can shut the lid properly. Don't put the lid on straight away otherwise the steam will make it fly off.
