What is a good site to buy large kitchen appliances online in order to avoid paying tax and shipping? I'm in Illinois and the majority of places I've found to purchase ranges, fridges, etc all charge me tax and shipping. Help!
Who makes the best large kitchen appliances? I need to buy a fridge, stove/oven range, and dishwasher all in stainless steel and I want to buy a good brand.
Do these kitchen appliances use less electricity than a single large burner on and electric stove? 1. A wok 2. Slow cooker 3. A large deep frying pan for almost anything. All of these three appliances are electric.
Have you ever felt physically attracted to a large kitchen appliance? My refrigerator has been looking? awfully good to me. Could it be magnetic attraction? I have the whole door covered with those little magnets.
Is it strange to find yourself attracted to a large kitchen appliance? The refrigerator seems to shimmy and shake a little bit when I walk by.
Black appliances with white small appliances? We're in a new house, and alll the large kitchen appliances are really nice, new, and black. While they are beautiful, I so miss being surrounded by white appliances! I don't want to change them, but would it look entirely tacky to use white for toaster, coffeemaker, etc, with everything else black? One other point: we plan on purchasing new small appliances; trying to hold on to the old ones is not the point, but the COLOR of the new ones is what I'm after. I do agree about keeping some out of sight! Thank you very much for your time!
How can I brighten up a large, older kitchen with inadequate windows? I moved into a75-yr-old bungalow that I love, all except the kitchen. This was my grandparents' home until they passed away, and then a rental property for several decades. The kitchen is very large, with counters, cabinets & appliances in a 'U' shape at the far end, and a large space for a table where you enter into it from the dining and family room. My mother had custom cabinets done by a novice carpenter 20 yrs ago. They're honey oak, but just okay in quality. I'd love to replace them, but it's not in the budget yet. The appliances are at least new & black. Countertops, flooring & walls are dingy shades of beige. There's a set of small windows over the sink that let in the only natural light in the room. There was once a screened porch off the back kitchen door, & a third window in the kitchen by the eating area that let in more light. But my mom had the porch enclosed, so that window now looks out onto nothing. What techniques could I use to brighten this dreary room inexpensively?
Want to redo my kitchen? I have pink small appliances? I have really cute pink small appliances in my kitchen as well as teapot, ladle, etc. right now i have white cabinets and ugly wood laminate (eww) i was thinking a brown and pink theme? with the cabinets brown, what kind of countertops do you think i should get, any other colors that would look good with pink? thank you! (U shaped kitchen, not large)
Can anyone tell me where I can find out the best kitchen appliance brands and product reviews (but not Choice) I would like to find accurate info as I am doing a reno and need to buy a lot of large appliances, incl gas stove, oven, rangehood, side by side fridge, dishwasher etc. Reader feedback on best appliances they have/problem brands or models would be appreciated. Are there any charities that accept large appliances as donations? I have a kitchen stove in very good condition, its too nice to just throw away, somebody could get use from it
Can a company refuse to deliver a kitchen appliance due to where you live? I live in the uk and have been trying to order some new appliances for my kitchen. The only problem is That I live in a small village in the country and the road I live in is quite a narrow road that isn't suitable for large or long vehicles. as there isn't much space to turn around. You can get any size of van down the road I live in but not a lorry.I Have tried ordering from many companies and they have refused to deliver to me due to where I live and the access problem's. I ordered a cooker 3 weeks ago and I made them aware of where I live. They came to deliver but came in a large lorry and in the end my husband had to drive down to end of road and put it in his car to get to his house. We have just ordered a dishwasher from the same company but coming from a different supplier and made them again aware of where I live but they are being funny about delivering it his time. They say if they can't get up my road they , will refuse to deliver they won't even let my husband come town to end of road and put in his car. My question is if it states on there website that they will deliver any where in uk and I have paid for item and delivery charges can they refuse to deliver. Isn't it there responsibility to find away to get it to you house if you have explain situation at time of placing order and paying. and they accept order. or not. If they refuse to deliver I suppose ill have to go to my nearest town which is about 1 hour drive away and go to comet or Curry's and buy on in store and put it in my car and bring it home. This isn't ideal though. Also I have another problem I need to order a fridge freezer. But again im going to have problems with getting it delivered and there is no way a fridge freezer will fit in my husband car. can any one suggest what I should do and there any companies that sell large kitchen appliances that specialise or will deliver to awkward places. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks in advance thanks for your answrs so far unfortunatly hiring a van isn't really a option as I don't drive due to illness and I also have 3 young children to look after and my husband works away Barry B I was asking for advice not rude insulting comments. Please any one else who answers this question. Please only answer if you can give me advice not rude comments. also me and my husband did not choose the house where we are living we had no choice it was the only house available. in the village where my husband works and where my sons school is.
How home appliances affect kitchen design? Home appliances, as large part and companion of kitchen, often affect Kitchen design as many built-in home appliances are fitted into Kitchen body. What are major home appliances that included most in Kitchen body? Modified home appliances which have combination of function recently compared to former home appliances kept surfacing in the market. For example, microwave-oven as combination of microwave and oven. People no longer thrive to complexity, they want it easy and fast. As simple as possible, as beautiful and elegant. Home appliances today are a form of modern art. Do customers prefer a home appliances that has almost similar function one over another? If so, what are they? How this affect Kitchen design today?
Which color Faux wood blinds to choose for kitchen+Family room ? Hi, I Have a large kitchen +family roomand the kitchen has cherry cabinets. The kitchen has stainless steel+black appliances There is also a huge window in the family room. My question is 1)Should the color of blinds for the kitchen window and family room window be same since they all are in the same continuous space? 2)Would white or cherry look better in the kitchen? If cherry is fine, then does it need to match exactly with the cabinet cherry stain? The walls are painted Benjamin Moore Bone Ivory color. 2)In the family room, would cherry color faux wood blinds look better or white ?The walls are painted a neutral color(Benjamin moore Bone White).I plan to have mostly black leather furniture in the family room and the accessories would be red+orange and yellow.Would white look too contrasting for this space? Thanks for your replies in advance!
How important is it to match kitchen applicance colors? Getting a new refrigerator. All other appliances are same brand/style/color (bisque). However, manufacturer doesn't make frig in size we want, in bisque. Considering getting non-shiny black frig. Sink is black, cooktop is black, there is black in the countertop. Larger u-shaped kitchen, closest appliance is 5 ft away. Are we better going with same brand in black, or going with another brand even if their bisque is not the same as our bisque? Serious answers only, please; you don't need to point out that I'm lucky to have all these options and appliances. We've worked hard and spent frugally for years to get where we are.
What color should I paint the trim in my kitchen, black maybe? This is for the kitchen...We are going to paint the walls a rich tan called "cashmere". The cabinets are being stained a deep red cherry color and the floors are bamboo that have the same color as the cabinets as well as dark striations in it. We are looking at doing a corian counter top with a beige theme. All the appliances are black. The kitchen is large and open and the flooring is going into the adjacent room that will be painted a chocolate color, this is a game room/family room and it is also very large. So the question is, what do you think about painting the trim in the kitchen BLACK? we really want some input on this. the rest of the house has cashmere paint and WHITE trim. The family room will be chocolate with white trim. we have been debating every aspect of this kitchen for months and it is getting tiresome. We have brushed nickle hardware if that means anything to you and lots of windows.
Where is a good place to look for new kitchen appliances (semi-pro) in the California, Bay Area/Peninsula.? We are remodeling our kitchen and looking for a good place to find semi-pro (dacor, wolf, etc.) ranges/fridge. Any recommendations on where to go for the largest selection & best pricing ?
What colors should I make my kitchen walls and floor? I currently have very nice oak cabinets and white appliances. My walls currently have green/burgandy sponge painting all over white walls and burgandy trim with a burgandy/green border near the ceiling. It is too loud for me. I was thinking of painting the walls a creamy soft yellow. I don't want to change the burgandy trim if I don't have to. Also, I was thinking of changing the flooring to either terrecotta colored tiles (or lineloum) or maybe a neutral/beige tile. It is a rather large kitchen with medium sunlight, but very nice receding lights in ceiling. I also have an oak island in the middle of the room, and a white table and white chairs with oak legs. Your thoughts would really help me. Thanks! BK P.S. Can I paint directly over the sponge painting?
What color to paint my kitchen? I would like to paint my kitchen and need some color suggestions. I live in an older house built in the 20's, the kitchen is small and the not all the cabinets match perfectly. I don't know what kind of wood they are but none are very dark. All are large appliances are white. We also have hardwood floors and crown molding. I don't want to go to crazy with color and also do not want anything too dark. The colors of the connecting rooms are a "butter cream" and a "spiced apple". Any suggestions?
Kitchen color for our new home? We just bought our first home (yay) and I need ideas for the color of the kitchen - it's a large kitchen with white appliances and light maple cabinets...any suggestions??
Where can I buy 110V appliances, like washer/dryer and small kitchen appliances? I need to shop in Riyadh or in the Eastern Province. I am looking for a High Efficiency Washer and matching dryer. Also, is there any where that has a large selection of small 110V appliances and household items, such as: Hair dryer, curling iron, clothes iron, indoor grill (like george forman), mixers, blenders, toasters, etc.? B K - I have looked in those 'plenty' of places!! I am specifically looking for 110V not 220V. This is a big problem here in KSA as not every house has 220V outlets!!! I have found a few random small appliances in different stores, but I am wondering if there's any store with a larger selection or a store that carries more 110V items (American imported) than 220V (European imported).
Decorating ideas for french country style kitchen.? Help! My living room & kitchen are side by side. Living room is painted 'gambol gold' (a dark golden yellow) & I have a large red couch & rug w/ Waverly red & gold toile fabric accents and curtains. The bathroom adjacent to the living room entryway is off of the kitchen. It is wallpapered in a red & gold toile paper w/ white accents & cabinetry. The kitchen has white farmhouse cabinets, black granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen also has a large bay window. I have the Le Rooster collection dishes, serving plates, etc. These are all multi colored dishes w/ rust red, green, gold, black, etc. http://www.reflectionsgallery.us/WebPages/LeRooster.htm Currently I have a few of the plates hanging on the wall for decoration. Here is my question (finally!).......What color would look best for the kitchen walls? I would like to do green color, but don't want the house to look like a crayon box of colors & I am not sure if green goes w/french country
What color should I paint my kitchen? Galley kitchen, white appliances and cabinets. Floors are dark cherry, counter tops are speckled brown granite with beige tile back splash. There is a large window for the breakfast nook, and white wainscoting around it. Dining room is light yellow, living room is tan. Thinking a nice "pumpkin pie" color would be nice, but haven't found the shade. Alternatively, maybe a light green (like moss). Suggestions?
Creating a "red" kitchen? My husband and I are in the process of buying a big fixer upper in a great neighborhood. I have all red small appliances in my kitchen (stand mixer, microwave, coffee maker) right now and I want to incorporate them into my new kitchen without overdoing the red. I want the kitchen to keep it's vintage charm (built in 1897) without being too loud. What neutral paint/cabinet colors would look good with red appliances on the counters? How about large appliances? Thanks!
What color do I paint my kitchen cabinets to compliment black appliances, dark countertops & oak floors? My kitchen cabinets need help! My house is a 1970's ranch. It has a large L-shaped kitchen/dining room(16 x 24). I installed new countertops (jamocha granite) in colors of black, dk brown, and tans. I also installed all new appliances in black. The backsplash is painted in Sherwin Williams Barcelona Beige. The floors are a medium oak. The cabinets are in good condition, but they just look "old school". They are made of birch with an old oak finish(no design, flat surface). With the style from the 70's, the cabinets go to ceiling and have two doors on top of each other. The top door is 16" and the bottom is 22". I'm sure I don't have to mention the ugly old hardware, which I want to replace. For now, painting will be my only option until I have the money to buy new cabinets. I would like a cabinet color that will compliment my counter, appliances, floors, backsplash, and adjacent dining room, which the walls are also painted SW-Barcelona Beige. I would appreciate any suggestions.
If a housing association wants to modernise a kitchen will the tenant have a choice in how it's done? My kitchen is tiny. There's a utility room next to it. When neighbouring houses have become vacant the kitchen and utility have been knocked into one. I would love a larger kitchen, but I'm not keen on a back to front through room and it means there would be some things I would prefer not to have in the kitchen that are currently in the utility room. Do they take into account what appliances I already have. Anyone have any knowledge or experience Thanks
Decorating help for kitchen....? I have a brick wall in my kitchen (dark reddish brown brick), it's a little over 3 feet wide and goes from top of my ceiling to bottom of the floor (little over 8ft tall). I'm looking for some decorating suggestions on what i can to do "dress it up". One of my friend's said i should hang a picture on it. It looks really cool, but at the same time I do feel i should do something with it. If anyone can give some suggestions, that would be great! I don't know if this helps but it is a large kitchen, with black appliances, black rug on floor and wooden cabinets. Thanks!
What is the most inexpensive way to go about a kitchen remodel? Eventually I want to redo the kitchen in my house, but I want to keep the cost under $10k, maybe even $5k. The kitchen is not very large either. We want new cabinets, counter top, and new appliances: range, over the range microwave (there currently is not one, and the exhaust fan is not directly above the range), install a dishwasher as well as a garbage disposal (there is no dishwasher or disposal now). What are some ways to keep the costs $5 - $10K? We could install the appliances ourselves, but I would prefer someone be paid to install the cabinets, counter and moving the exhast fan over so that we can have an OTR microwave. Thanks for the laugh Bob, I wish, lol.
Are builders allowed to leave lots of rubble and polystyrene under a new rotavated and turfed lawn? Our new bungalow seemed ideal for us, now we've moved in and the builders have sorted out some of the teething problems. The back garden has supposedly been rotavated and then turfed. It is very uneven and you can feel hard lumps below the turf. I have started to take turf off and dig over borders ready for planting , but am finding polystyrene packaging, large pieces such as kitchen appliances are packed in, and chunks of concrete and broken bricks. Some of the concrete is over a foot square and 3 to 4 inches deep. Most of the debris has about 4 inches of soil over it. The builders tell me that this debris is rising to the surface???? This sounds very odd to me. Are they supposed to leave it like this?
I need replacement kitchen sink plugs - 75mm? I have a double sink, one with a pop-up plug, the other non-pop-up. Both plugs are now broken (they are plastic). They both have slots, in order to filter larger pieces of waste. They measure 75 mm at their widest. Apparently, the standard (in the UK) is 60mm or 90mm, so I guess my sink must have come from somewhere else. An example is at: http://www.kitchen-appliances-direct.co.uk/item-166-3_5__Stainless_steel_basket_strainer_waste.aspx though that one is too big. Where can I buy such plugs, please? wayve-ryder - I should have said, I'm in Oxford, England, not in the USA. Any chance you could actually find me an online store amongst those you mentioned? - I'd be happy to get them to ship from USA. Thanks JIM M - it's just the plug I need, not the waste unit into which the plug fits. And my local plumbers don't have the 75mm plug, that's why I put the question here. BART S - No, EBay doesn't have any, at least not the couple of times I've looked. Doesn't ANYBODY recognise this size of plug??!
Can I plug regular appliance into LARGE 3 prong stove outlet? I have an outlet in my kitchen that has a LARGE 3 prong plug for the stove, but I don't have a regular outlet for a kitchen appliance like a coffee maker. What I would like to do, is find out if I can get an adaptor that will allow the large stove plug from the stove to continue using the outlet, and at the same time, hook up a regular three prong appliance outlet to it. I mean, would there be an adaptor that could allow the stove to plug into the current outlet with the large plugs, and also have a smaller three prong outlet that a coffee maker or something could plug into?
What is your "Can't-live-without" kitchen tool or appliance? Mine would be my Kitchen Aid stand mixer, large wooden mixing spoons, and the electric griddle. I use all three every single day.
Do we need to update our kitchen to sell our house? Our house is old, but nice. Nothing major wrong with it. It's got old-fashioned doors, weathered trim, and the bathrooms have old-fashioned tile (in nice condition). We've added new tile and stainless appliances to our kitchen. Would it be worth it to put in new cabinets (old ones are old-fashioned and the stain is fading, but otherwise in good condition), windows (we have a large window that has moisture in between the panes beause a seal is broken--it's pretty obvious) and countertops (they are not fancy or modern, but in great condition) to finish off the "updated" look, or is it not going to make a difference to sell our house? We don't want to over-do it in our 80's style house. The other houses in the neighborhood are similiar in age and not really updated.
do miss matched appliances bring down the value of the house or does it not matter? I have a large house about 6000 sqft of living space, but my kitchen has a stainless steel refrigerator and the other appliances are bisque.sooooo just wondering if it would really affect the value of my house.
Can you give me some inspiration for a color scheme for my kitchen? My kitchen is a blank slate-- would appreciate suggestions for a cheerful color scheme. It has stainless steel appliances, dark wood cabinets, off white tiled countertops, and off-white porcelain tile floor. There is a sliding glass door and window over the sink. I do not want to wallpaper but will paint the walls, and I am open to a wall paper border. I am a single professional girl, 25, with a large dog. I do not want it to look like my mother lives here! Appreciate your ideas! And I will be doing the work myself.
I need a Spanish Translation for these house descriptions.? Downstairs: Living room with all the furnishings. One easy chair and two large sofas. A fireplace for when it gets cold during the winter. Dining room with a large dining table and many chairs for when we have dinner parties. A chandelier would make the room look more elegant. Kitchen with expensive appliances. Large refrigerator for all the food. Dishwasher because I hate to do the dishes. Stove and oven to cook the meals. There would be one bathroom downstairs with only a toilet and sink. Upstairs: One master bedroom and five regular bedrooms. The master bedroom would have a king size bed and large walk-in closet for all the clothes. Each of the other bedrooms would have queen size beds with smaller closets. The master bedroom would have its own bathroom with an large shower and toilet. There would be two other bathrooms upstairs with regular showers, toilets, and sinks.
What charity will accept a frig, D/W, range & microwave? I'm remodeling my kitchen and Goodwill won't accept large appliances. Hate to trash them and we know Lowe's takes them and does something with them. That's why they're happy to remove them for free. Charities don't want large appliances and I don't want strangers coming to the house or I'd consider selling for little to nothing so any option that has people coming here to pick them up won't work.
NEED A COLOR IDEA FOR A KITCHEN? OK I HAVE A LARGE KITCHEN WITH A LOT OF LIGHTING ALL DAY. MY TABLE IS A LARGE SQUARE GLASS. AND ALL THE APPLIANCES ARE WHITE. THE FLOOR IS WHITE. SO YES THERES A LOT OF WHITE GOING ON. WE DONT SPEND TOO TOO MUCH TIME IN THE KITCHEN BUT I HAVE AN OPEN FLOOR PLAN RIGHT NEXT TO THE LIVING ROOM. What colour should i paint a kitchen? So im planning on painting my moms kitchen. Her cabinets and dinning table are like this ( TUSCAN ) http://www.kitchencraft.com/finishes_palette.aspx#oak and the appliances are white and the counter tops are beige. any thoughts??? there are also 2 windows ( 1 huge one and a smaller but still large one, so its bright and i would like to keep it like that. thanks
Color for kitchen walls ???? Thanks for the answers. I might add that the cabinets are a honey color so terra cotta might be the best choice with with black counter tops and dark grey floors. All the appliances are brushed stainless steel. It's a very large, bright kitchen and the front hall just off the kitchen is terra cotta with the same floor. The kitchen is a hospital green right now and although it goes well with the cabinets overall I hate the color. Would terra cotta be the choice of most given the above description? Thanks.
Which kitchen supplier is best ? My parents have a small kitchen in a flat in Essex which is old fashioned and needs completely stripping and re-fitting - which large company B&Q, MFI etc. would you recommend to design and fit including new appliances, re-position combi boiler, laminate flooring etc.etc.
I am moving a long distance with only my car. What are good ways to make room in my car for all my stuff? I have a very large bedroom, kitchen appliances, and bathroom. I am getting rid of all my big furniture but dont really want to part with much else. I know about the space saver vacuum bags but was wondering if there were any other nifty space saving tools, thanks! I am trying to save some money with this move, I have looked and its cheaper to sell my furniture that I have then it would be to rent a uhaul and tow my car or have movers take my stuff. Thanks for the suggestions though.
For Indian cooks, what do you consider your basic, absolutely necessary kitchen equipment? Namaste I don't mean the large appliances, like stove or refrigerator, but if you have grown accustomed to any kind of modern equipment ...... ** like a food processor ** coffee / spice grinders ** what pots & pans, spoons, tongs, mixing bowls, storage containers for the fridge, things of that sort you could not cook without ? ** what kind of storage containers for flour, sugar, spices do you think basic and essential ? I have seen lists on the internet, but I would like to know what "real" people feel they must have to funtion well in their Indian kitchen...... thank you so much xxxxx ******P.S. how to make tea and coffee ?? Do you have a tea strainer or a tea ball .... and for coffee? What to use ?? thank you again xxxx
What are the fees from professional movers for 1200 miles-typical 3-bedroom home, NO beds or appliances? We live in Tampa Bay Florida; want to go to central Oklahoma. We are taking very little furniture, maybe our deep freezer, 3 large filing cabinets, lots of books, 3 computer chairs, no desks, the rest kitchen stuff, clothes and linens and odds n ends. We plan on going as light as possible. Thank you, Crystal. I was hoping for more responses, but yours indeed was very helpful. I looked into U-Haul, finding out that they had a website which gave you prices. I'm relieved to find out that one-way truck rental was as you said, near the $1000 price. Thank you for sharing your experience. I feel more encouraged about moving this distance now.
Is there any place that will buy used, good-conditioned appliances? ie; refridgerator, gas oven? We are currently remodeling kitchen with built-in electric oven and larger refridgerator, but our present appliances won't comply with the new kitchen design. The appliances are in good condition and operable.
Are white kitchens out of the question? I'm trying to add value to my house with upgrades and although I have granit countertops, I have all white cabinets and appliances in my kitchen. Is this okay provided the house is nice, or are white cabinets/appliances unacceptable these days? If so, how difficult would it be to sandblast/restain the cabinets? I know that kitchens are a large part of a home's value. Thanks!

I need storage ideas for small kitchen.? My home is very small and the kitchen is the smallest room in the house (besides the bathroom!). Unfortunatley, I had a really nice kitchen in my previous home and had all the fun stuff to go in it. Appliances, large platters, pasta bowls, etc. I have a wall with really nothing on it. Right now I have a bakers rack but it is a junk catcher and really doesn't have that much storage space. Any ideas what I can do instead of the rack? I have considered buying an antique wardrobe at auction. I'd love any other ideas. I just want to be able to store my cook books, large platters and bowls, crock pots, food processors, stand mixers, ect. Help!

consumer advice needed please ? I ordered and paid for a large kitchen appliance at the end of December from a well known retailer. I spoke with the sales person, who guaranteed that the item would be in their warehouse on the 9th jan and ready to collect from in store on the 14th. Double checked this with sales person as reminded him I would need to arrange transport etc. (Store is less than 5 minutes away from home so £50 delivery charge seemed a bit extortionate) I have arranged for transport and a few pairs of hands to help with the collection and phoned the store today to confirm that it will be ok to pick up on the 18th. I have been told that it won't actually be in store now until the 21st. My man with a van won't be available again for some time and i'm a bit stuck. Am I within my rights to complain to the store and request free delivery of the item? Do I stamp my feet until I get it? Or would it be a lost cause? Thanks in advance lol, Apologies. Should I 'insist' and not accept no as an answer. Believe me, I had no intention of standing in a public area crying and stamping my feet until I have my own way - I have a child who does that for me! :)

Where can i find a big kitchen top fan? i have a huge fan that is more than 20 years old and is really big. I go to appliance stores but there fans seem to be to small. Is there anyplace that sells big ones that cover a large amount of area?
Brand new home, kitchen ideas? I just purchased a brand new home, and have always loved the idea of having a "wine themed" kitchen with the deep reds and whatnot. The new home I bought though has counter tops in the kitchen that are a teal green, which means that any red I put in will make my kitchen look too much like Christmas. I am not replacing the counter tops, as this is a brand new built home. Any suggestions on how to get the "wine theme" without it looking like Christmas? My cabinets are light oak colored and the floor is a large tile light beige color with all appliances being white.

Hi, I need help with my kitchen colour scheme? Can anyone help me? We have a large, modern boxy kitchen with Ikea beech cupboards and chrome handles. All our appliances are chrome. We have real terracotta floor tiles in an orangey tone and pale peachy mottled rustic wall tiles. I have a golden oak rustic farm table and a shaker coloured welsh dresser in the kitchen. I collect blue Polish pottery with a few dark terracotta bits and cream on them, on display in the dresser. I am trying to find a wall colour and roman blinds/or other window treatment that will coordinate the traditional furniture and the modern kitchen units and chrome. We also have white wooden venetian blinds in the 3 windows, as we are overlooked, but I want to add some fabric around them. All the lines from the tiles on the wall, floor and blinds mean the kitchen is already very busy visually. I can't really add more lines with stripey fabric on the windows, but I do feel the room looks too soul-less right now. Can anyone help keep the warmth and blue?
Kitchen paint color? I am in the process of renovating my kitchen and need some advice. I've already purchased the cabinets in this picture: http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w100/rraeyn/cabinets.jpg but there's a dark grey-brown grain that runs through them you can't see in the photo. My dilemma is this: I adore the cabinets, but I hate "country" and I'm having a hard time coming up with a granite counter/tile floor/wall color combo that will make them look more modern. I don't want white walls. Any ideas? My appliances are stainless and black. The kitchen is not terribly large and the only window faces a brick wall a few feet away, so there will be little natural light. I have pot lights in the ceiling, one main center light, and under-cabinet LED lighting. Also, I am limited in my granite choices to the cheapest ones, so I'm leaning towards something black(ish) with flecks of green or maybe brown. Just to clarify, the photo I posted above is not of MY kitchen. It's a picture I got from the website of the cabinet manufacturer, just to show the type and (approximate) color of the cabinets. My kitchen currently doesn't even have walls, so I'll be starting with bare drywall.
How Can I Repair Ripped Congoleum? I was informed (by a local congoleum dealer) that I could lay a new piece of congoleum down on top of my old linoleum withough gluing into place. The type of congoleum I purchased is the type they say requires no glue. I was clumbsy with a sharp edge on my appliance and ripped a large hole in the center of the kitchen. Here is my question. Can you give me an idea of how you would fix this kind of tear? Try to cut a new piece and glue into the new hole?
Top Loin Boneless Pork Chops - favorite recipes???? I've thawed out 2.5 lbs of these lovely chops. I'm sort of bored and would like to make something different. I am a very good cook and have a well stocked kitchen. I'm certain that I have 90% of the gourmet herbs and spices that can be purchased at a fine grocer or grown in my Florida garden. I have a good supply of all the standard fresh veggies, greens, tomatoes, potatoes, fruit, etc. including a nice head of green cabbage and a large rutaba. I have plenty of frozen and canned goods (including an enormous assortment of beans). I have a large assortment of kitchen tools and appliances. Please send me your recipes and/or meal suggestions - no matter how simple or complicated. This family likes ALL types of food - homey or fancy. So, just tell me what your favorites are and give me some inspiration please. Thank You and Bless You All!!!
what color walls goes with a green marble fireplace? the fireplace has white wood trim and green marble. It's a pedestal type fireplace (a foot up from the floor). The large room it's in adjoins a kitchen with dark cherry wood and dark green granite and stainless steel appliances. So what color do I do the walls? There's also a large French door so the room gets plenty of light. And has a medium color red oak floor. Someone who knows how to decorate, please help!
Kitchen remodeling HELP!? For a Kitchen with Light wood cabinets with black granite counter tops and stainless steal sink and appliances, what color walls? It is an eat in kitchen, but not huge so want to make it as large as possible. Was thinking of a very light beige, but am afraid light cabinets may get lost against it. Also is it worth the extra money to get an undermount sink or can I stick with the fairly new drop in sink I already have? Last question is home depot okay to purchase the granite from or are local vendors better ( I live in Long Island NY). Thanks for the help!
I want to warm up my kitchen--too white? I have a fairly large family room 14' x 20' and kitchen/breakfast area 10' x 20' broken up by a kitchen bar. The bar/sink and main kitchen have white corian countertops. The cabinets, all appliances, and the sink are white. The kitchen walls and family room walls are a Taupe or a Toffee color. The ceiling is white. Both areas and foyer have light Oak hardwood floor that needs to be resurfaced-so I can go with alot darker stain on the hardwood floors if need be. There are several windows in both areas so lots of sunlight in the morning as it faces East. I can paint the cabinets, walls, and redo the floors to warm it up but I cannot afford to replace the Corian Countertops at this time. I have a week and a half time frame between when the Sellers move out and I move in and want to get at least the floors done for obvious reasons before I move in--if not all of it. Any ideas or combinations of ideas of what to do to warm up the kitchen up and at a minimum?
I need help creating a livingroom with a masculine flair like an old world study or map room? I've just coerced my family into move from NY to FL. To show my appreciation to my husband and son, I'd like to our new livingroom to have a distinctly masculine feel. We're in a new condo with 10 ft ceilings, 18" beige tiles on the floor and white walls. We're renting so I can't paint the walls. I've purchased a burgundy leather nail head sofa with a matching aztec patterned fabric chair in burgundy and gold whose coordinating pillows I plan to put on the sofa. I've also bought some dark hard wood coffee and end tables with a lovely golden glow in the right light. I have some heavy drapes that are again mostly gold with a nondistinct pattern. I'm not sold on the drapes. A large medium oak diningroom table is visible as is the kitchen in black and beige granite, black appliances and medium wood cabinets. What do I do for a rug, put on the walls, and use for window treatments? What colors do I need to bring in beside gold and burgundy? Any good websites for this style of decor?
