How do you make ice cream with hand crank maker? I got a hand crank Ice Cream Maker for my anniversary. I would love to make home made ice cream and need a recipe. What I'm supposed to do with this recipe would be good too. I've never made home made ice cream and would love to try it. I would have read the instuction book if it came with one!
Can you make ice cream in an ice cream maker with soy milk? My daughter wants an ice cream maker 'ball' that you can shake or toss around with rock salt in it and it makes ice cream. It's really cute but she is allergic to milk so we can't use half and half. Any ideas? I didn't know you use eggs for ice cream. Unfortunately she can't do eggs either. The half and half recipe doesn't include any eggs.

Can you still use an electric ice cream maker if you have lost the lid? I just pulled out my electric ice cream maker and noticed the clear plastic lid is gone. I have the padle, the outside and inside containers, and the motor, but not the lid for the inner container. I was going to make ice cream for tomorrow but I don't know if I should try to use it without the lid. Would aluminum foil work as a temporary fix?
What is the best ice cream maker for under 100 dollars.? Not with the rock salt or ice. The automatic kind that you don't have to churn. Which is the best for making hard ice cream. I understand that you have to have the bowl in the freezer at all times and that harder ice cream requires extra freezing after its mixed. If you've bought an ice cream maker tell me if you liked it. I don't want someone to give me a link to a page of reviews on amazon.com or something. I just want personal opinions on the best machines for my budget thanks.
What's the difference between a frozen yogurt maker and an ice cream maker? I bought a Rival Frozen Yogurt Maker at a thrift store. They also had a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker for twice the price. Is there even a difference between a frozen yogurt maker and an ice cream maker? I did a search on Rival Frozen Yogurt Makers on Amazon, and it doesn't seem to exist, but that's what I have.
Can you make ice cream in your ice cream maker without freezing afterward? Okay, so my ice cream maker requires me to freeze the bowl and chill the mixture before starting the churning process. No problem, I can do that. But is it really necessary to freeze the mixture for eight hours or more in your freezer when done churning? If you just eat it before freezing would it be like soft serve ice cream?
Ever have this problem with your ice cream maker? So the other day i used my icecream maker for the second time. The first time used it i made frozen yogurt and i washed it out and put it back in the freezer with a plastic bag inside so frost wouldnt grow in the tub. Well i made some vanilla ice cream with snickers pieces and when it was done i tasted good. I put it in a air tight container and stuck it in the freezer till the next day. The following day i noticed a strange chemical taste but blew it off. The following day i ate more and it tasted more chemically. I finally threw it out yesterday ( after only 4 days) because it was disgusting. Do you think its the tub or is it maybe that my freezer is set to high ( i found some frost on the icecream) and its makeing my ice cream taste rancid. I never had this problem with store bought ie cream.

What is the cooling liquid in automatic ice cream maker bowls? I made frozen drinks with a rotary electric ice cream/sorbet maker. There was an awful metallic taste in my slushy as I neared the bottom. After cleaning out the metal-lined insulated bowl, I noticed some of the cooling liquid had collected in the bottom. Should I be concerned that I may have ingested a carcinogen or toxin? It is an insulated bowl that is filled with a clear fluid. Somewhat like a thermos filled with liquid rather than air. The bowl is placed in the freezer to cool. It is then placed on a unit which spins it while a stationary plastic blade stirs the icecream/sorbet/yogurt/etc. Here is the website with the actual product. http://www.cuisinart.com/catalog/product.php?product_id=45&item_id=82&cat_id=10 Many thanks! Oh, the liquid/gel evaporated overnight and left a crystalline formation behind. Much like frost on a window. maybe it was ethanol or somesuch... however, there was no appreciable odor, just a bitter taste.
What are the dangers of scratching a freezer bowl of an ice cream maker? I just made some ice cream and was trying to scrape out the last little bits at the bottom when I realized that there were many little scratches at the bottom (silly me). So I read the instruction manual and it has in BOLD that it is very important that the freezer bowl is not scratched... it also mentions that this is important for the safety of people using the ice cream maker. Does anyone know why that is, and what kinds of danger they are talking about? Please help.. I really want to eat my ice cream.
Has your ice cream maker lost its novelty factor? I adore ice cream and would love an ice cream maker but will it end up gathering dust like my juicer and bread maker. Did you find your ice cream maker cheap to run or shall I continue to buy from Tesco?
Can i make ice cream with a regular blender instead of an ice cream maker? This may sound like a pretty dumb question, but i've never made home made ice cream before! I just bought some hemp seeds to try to make some hemp ice cream at home (its amazing u guys need to try it!) but all the recipes call for an ice cream maker. can i make ice cream in a regular blender? or like the magic bullet? (i'd prob use the magic bullet ... would i need to use the flat blade or the other one?) THANK YOU ! !
Can I make a second batch of ice cream in the ice cream maker? Okay so I've let me ice cream maker freeze for the required 15 hours (actually a lot longer) and it has been out of the freezer for a whole 30 (!) minutes to convert my batter and now it's back in the freezer. Does it have to stay in the freezer for a whole 15 hours again? It's still mostly frozen. I made tons of batter! One batch of ice cream every 20 hours just will not do since it doesn't last that long in this house.
Can you make snow using an ice cream maker? I want to make some snow on which to pour hot maple syrup (for old fashioned maple syrup candy on snow, with pickles after!), and I have an ice cream maker... will it make something resembling snow if I just put water in? Or will it make hard ice and ruin the ice cream maker? The maker is a cuisinart kind where you freeze the inner container. Anybody try this before or have ideas? Thanks!!
can i use rock sea salt in a manual ice cream maker? Just got grandpa's old manual ice cream maker... have seen the "ice cream salt" few places, and though the rocks tend to be larger than the sea salt "pebbles(?)" I use for my kitchen grinder, I wonder if the grains are too small? or will they work just as well? Amount vs. the ice needed?
What exactly the "Ice Cream Maker" does? I'm looking for ice cream recipes online.. and I found that you finesh the ice cream and put it into the friser, and after 2 hours, you get it out and put it into the ice cream maker.. it seems that the ice cream is done.. why would i put it into the ice cream maker? what does it do exactly?
Has anyone ever tried making an Icee with an ice cream maker? By pouring coke or another carbonated beverage in the ice cream maker? It looks like it would have the same effect frozen turning machines in stores. I was looking to make homemade Icees with the same or similar texture and consistency as the ones you buy in the store, using low-cal beverages. I don't like the chunky icy texture of slushees made with ice in a blender.
An Ice cream maker that makes more than 1 quart quanitity? Is there a such ice cream maker that is automatic (meaning no ice and salt) and makes more than just 1 quart of ice cream at a time, something that makes 4 quarts would be ideal! I have an automatic ice cream maker now - but it only makes 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream. Enough for a few people, but we are a family of six. I tried searching around in retail stores, and online and cannot find anything - Thx.
